Boy Scouting
The Boy Scouts of America strive to prepare boys to make ethical, moral and virtuous decisions throughout their life. The program uses outdoor skills, a healthy lifestyle and leadership skills as mechanisms for building confidence as they grow and develop into men.
Key goals of the program are to develop citizens who are physically, mentally and emotionally fit; have a high degree of self reliance, resourcefulness, courage and compassion to use their strengths to help others.
The program is open for boys who are 11 or in the sixth grade, and has open enrollment until the age of 18.
These goals are achieved by participating in:
- Outdoor Adventure Activities
- Learning Respect for the Environment
- Learning Safety in All Activities
- Community outreach and service
- Training on Citizenship and Leadership
- Merit Based Activities
There are many roles for Adult Leadership in Boy Scouting:
